Peak Sports Week 12 Football Preview - Previewing the Six Most Intriguing Games of the Week

Peak Sports Week 12 Football Preview - Previewing the Six Most Intriguing Games of the Week

#23 Southeastern Louisiana Lions (7-3, 4-1 Southland) @ Nicholls Colonels (3-7, 3-2 Southland)

Thurs. Nov. 19; 7 PM ET/ESPN+ ($)

The Southland Conference title could be decided as early as Thursday evening, should the Lions take home the River Bell Classic. Another Peak Bowl rivalry, Nicholls has won three of the last five in this series, and could play the role of spoiler. If Southeastern Louisiana does lose, then the winner of the UIW/Northwestern State game takes the conference. There is plenty to play for here, but it might be the defenses that steal the show.

The Citadel Bulldogs (3-7, 2-5 SoCon) @ VMI Keydets (1-9, 0-7 SoCon)

Sat. Nov. 19; 12 PM ET/ESPN+ ($)

This year's Military Classic of the South will bring annual pageantry and celebration honoring the South's oldest military institutions. Throw out the records and wins in this fierce rivalry, especially since the last road win in this series was 2019 by VMI, which stopped a 12-game losing streak to the Bulldogs. Running the triple option offense, The Citadel will run the ball and VMI might not be able to stop it. The Bulldogs won last year 35-24 and will look to keep the "Silver Shako" for another year.

Wofford Terriers (3-7, 3-4 SoCon) @ #12 Furman Paladins (8-2, 6-1 SoCon)

Sat. Nov. 19; 12 PM ET/ESPN+ ($)

Top-ten Furman plays host to one the most historic SoCon rivalries - the I-85 Rivalry against Wofford. The Terriers have turned their season around over the last few weeks, going 3-1 in that stretch. The stakes in this game are massive, as the Paladins can grab a share of first place in the SoCon with a win Saturday. With Wofford hoping to spoil their rivals' dreams, this should be a fun one.

D-II: Davenport Panthers (8-2, 4-2 GLIAC) @ #2 Ferris State Bulldogs (9-1, 5-1 GLIAC)

Round 1 of Playoffs - Super Region 3

Sat. Nov. 19; 1 PM ET/FloSports ($)

The reigning Division II National Champions Ferris State gets set to host a GLIAC rematch in Round 1 of Super Region 3. Two weeks ago, Davenport fell to these Bulldogs 28-7 on the same turf they will play on Saturday. Beating the same team twice in a season is never easy, so expect Davenport to change things up to keep this game more competitive. Could this be the beginning of another incredible championship run for Ferris State? Only time will tell.

D-II: Indianapolis Greyhounds (9-1, 6-0 GLVC) @ #3 Pittsburg State Gorillas (11-0, 11-0 MIAA)

Round 1 of Playoffs - Super Region 3

Sat. Nov. 19; 2 PM ET/MIAA Network ($)

The Gorillas are in the Big Dance for the first time since 2014 and are hoping to make the most of it: a deep playoff run. Most teams have struggled against Pittsburg State this season, but UIndy is hoping to flip that script. Offensively, they may be able to keep pace with the fast, efficient Gorilla offense we have seen this season. You never want to look ahead in the playoffs, but a win for Pittsburg State could potentially create a Peak-Bowl playoff meeting against Ferris State next week in Round 2.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks (8-2, 4-0 ASUN) @ Central Arkansas Bears (5-5, 3-1 ASUN)

Sat. Nov. 19; 5 PM ET/ESPN+ ($)

The regular season finale is here, and the ASUN title is down to one game with two teams squaring off for the crown. The Bears have snuck up on many teams this season, using a resurgence of their rushing attack to put them in this position. They will have home-field advantage on Saturday, hosting the Gamecocks, playing in their last FCS game ever. They are a tough stylistic matchup for any opposing defense, with multiple stars in their arsenal. The Gamecocks want their FCS swansong to end at the top of the ASUN, while Central Arkansas hopes the title is the start of a playoff run. Strap in for this afternoon kickoff; it's sure to be an instant classic.
